The Board of Directors for the condominium at 50 and 70 Baif in Richmond Hill certainly did their homework. They were looking at opportunities for energy improvements back in 2002 and even established a capital fund six years ago to cover the necessary costs. It was not until Toronto Hydro Energy Services presented a comprehensive proposal for improving the energy efficiency of the condominium complex did they have a cost-effective plan for moving forward.

General Motors


As the largest automotive facility in North America, the GM Campus in Oshawa is massive. And so was its potential for energy savings. Through an in-depth assessment of the 12-million square foot facility, Toronto Hydro Energy Services, working with U.S.-based energy management firm The Benham Companies LLC, was able to uncover the opportunity for an estimated $1.85 million in annual utility savings. The challenge was to implement the improvements without affecting production in a plant where most of the facility operates around the clock.

Light Levels Go Up, Energy Use Comes Down

 

Cloverdale Mall contacted Toronto Hydro Energy Services about improving the lighting levels in the mall in May of 2006. Toronto Hydro Energy Services outlined the benefits of switching to compact fluorescent technology and detailed the project economics, including available incentives.

Rental complex at 299 Roehampton maximizes guaranteed energy savings through Performance Design Build

Escalating energy costs and rising vacancy rates made reducing operating costs a top priority at this 35-year old apartment complex. Toronto Hydro Energy Services used its Performance Design Build service to provide a comprehensive energy saving solution that met their budget and energy savings goals. The result was a turnkey energy retrofit project providing 25% in annual utility cost savings.

Project cost: $269,685
Incentives: $81,503
Annual cost savings: $79,600 (85% of savings guaranteed within one year without insurance premium)
Payback period: 2.3 years

Toronto's ten civic centres prove to be environmental leaders
